Day Excursion Duration – 8 Hours | Category – Deluxe,Premium,Luxury

ITINERARY

Pick up from Port / Airport/Hotel transfers to Guruvayur by A/c Vehicle with English speaking chauffeur

Visit the famous Punnathur Kotta

Punnathar Kota is the erstwhile home of local royalty and now an elephant pound. However, not all elephants are allowed inside. Punnathar Kota only gives those elephants shelter that have been offered to the Lord Guruvayurappan. If religion is not your purpose of visit you won’t be disappointed. The gentle giants here are trained to perform tasks in the temple of the Lord. Occasionally, you can be part of the auspicious Gajjapoojan (hymns recited in praise of elephants) said to please Lord Ganesha himself. Punntahar Kota is home to a whopping 64 elephants, the oldest of them being 75 years

A short visit to Mural Museum

Kerala is a state where modern lifestyle and arts seamlessly merge with ancient tradition. No other institute elaborates this fact as much as the Mural Museum; in fact it’s not only a museum. Inside, one is greeted with something that was thought to have been extinct for centuries- the Gurukul system. Each artist in this beautiful building learns mural painting and many other subjects under a Guru. Each year the seasoned artists display some of the best murals in a special exhibition. Painting aficionado or not, simply walk in to watch these murals tell their own pastel story.

Lunch from a Veg restaurant

Explore the dance forms at Krishnattam Kalari

Krishnattam is a dance form as unique as Kerala itself. It is one of the very few arts in the world, where evil is represented by dawning colourful and sinister masks. Make sure you take a front row seat and watch these graceful dancers portray characters with nothing but elegant hand and body gestures.

Guruvayur Museum

On the outside Guruvayur Museum is a simple building situated in an Annexe at East Nada. But, as they say do not judge a book by its cover. Inside the Museum you will find a plethora of exhibits you’ve never imagined. Guruvayur is a museum so unique, it displays all the offerings and gifts given to Lord Guruvayurappan by his awe struck devotees. Guruvayur Museum is not just an exhibit centre it’s an epitome of faith and devotion.

Later that day visit the famous Guruvayurappan Temple

Legend has it that the Guruvayurappan Temple was built 5000 years ago! Fact or not, it is still one of Kerala’s most adored temples and has a majestic deity of the mighty Guruvayurappan. Magnificently built completely in stone it reminds one that sometimes, legends are true.
